Who is Anderson Ford Motorsport?

Anderson Ford-Mercury is one of the oldest Ford Dealerships in the US specializing in performance products for fuel injection Ford vehicles. The Anderson family had over 20 years of racing experience in NHRA, IDBA, and Drag Bike organizations before they opened the Ford-Mercury dealership doors in 1988. Since opening the dealership in Clinton, IL, the Anderson families have raced in NHRA, NSCA, NMRA & Fun Ford Event/Heads-Up classes. They have also helped many of the top racers in those same organizations.

Anderson Ford Motorsport division was created in 1989 to support the growing demand of performance parts for the late model Mustangs. The Motorsport division has grown to be one of the largest Performance Centers in the Midwest and has a world-wide customer base and has established itself as “Illinois’ Number One Motorsport Dealership”. The dealership itself is owned and operated by Randy and Ann Anderson. Rick Anderson, Randy’s brother, was the Director of Anderson Ford Motorsport for many years and has helped to retain the premier reputation through product design and rigorous testing to ensure their reliability and that they “Really Work”!

Racing Ford vehicles was somewhat of a “given” for the Anderson Family. Designing, building and retailing unique performance parts for Ford vehicles was something that came about because of the demand for new ideas of the Ford Performance market. Starting in 1993, Anderson Ford Motorsport branched out and began producing their line of specialty parts for the Mustang. The Andersons had witnessed gaps in the products being offered from other manufacturers and saw a need of filling this gap of performance parts for Mustangs. This is how the Anderson Ford Motorsport PowerPipe®, Hi-Rev®Camshafts and Hi-Rev®Clutches were developed.

In 1988 Rick started testing products on his wife’s new ’88 Mustang LX coupe and in no time had it smokin’ the track at the mid 12’s and emission legal and naturally aspirated! At this same time his wife was still driving the LX on a daily basis with a round trip of 50 miles. He loved the Ford EEC with its great drivability and fuel mileage. With that in mind, it didn’t take Rick long to put his Mustang (’79 pony with 499cu) on the market and talk his wife out her LX.

That same LX has been a continuing test car for Anderson Ford Motorsport. From the development of the famous PowerPipe® to the testing of products for the Renegade and Pure Street Classes, the car has been an invaluable asset. Anderson Ford Motorsport has also enjoyed working on many project vehicles over the years to learn what combinations of performance parts work together. These projects have saved consumers a lot of headaches and heartaches of trial and error on their own vehicles. Many articles have been written on these projects and published in the national magazines, 5.0 Mustang & Super Ford and Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords.

With the LX gone, Rick had a new “Mule” for the ongoing development of performance parts. A 2005 S197 Mustang in Screaming Yellow is now the car and is being put through the rigors of his testing. New products move from concept to manufacturing as the search for more horsepower continues. And you know you can’t have too many ponies! It seems when the S197 Mustang body was introduced in 2005, it has reignited the love affair between driver and car and the need for speed.

2013 Shelby Cobra GT500 goes 9's!

The 2013 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 is an impressive piece of hardware right out of the box. It's a package capable of pulling 11-second quarter mile passes one minute and lapping your favorite road course with genuine fury the next thanks to its impressive suspension tuning and heady 662-horsepower. But how much quicker can its supercharged V8 get with a little tweaking? The team isn't saying exactly what they've done to the king Pony, though we can see a set of dragstrip-friendly "bigs n' littles" have found their way into the wheel wells.

As a result, the 3,852-pound two-door bolted down the drag strip in just 9.77 seconds. Judging by the "thank you" list in the video's credits, this GT500 may even be rocking a shot of nitrous, though we can't say for certain.

Shelby GT500 will continue past 2014 as part of next generation Mustang lineup

Ford took the automotive industry by surprise when it unveiled the 2013 Shelby GT500 back in November. With its 5.8-liter supercharged V8 producing 650 horsepower and new aerodynamics allowing for a top speed of 202 mph, the new GT500 is unequivocally the most impressive Mustang to ever come from the factory. However, with the next generation Mustang coming in 2014 as a 2015 model, what’s in store for the GT500′s future? Will there even be a Shelby GT500 when the next generation Mustang is introduced? Ford could easily return to using the SVT Cobra name or even go with a completely different moniker.
According to Shelby American president John Luft, though, the Shelby GT500 will continue on as a model well into the Mustang’s next generation. In an exclusive interview at the New York Auto Show last week, Luft told MustangsDaily.com that “the contract [with Ford] has been extended, and we have a long-term vision for our relationship. It has been extended through 2015 and beyond.”
Luft went on to explain that the relationship between Ford and Shelby has been extremely beneficial to both companies. “When something works you just don’t change it,” he said. “Clearly, having a Shelby in their stable as their halo car has really worked for them. Ford Motor Company loves it, their dealers love it, and we love it. It gives us a great platform. So we need Ford Motor Company to develop great base cars.”
According to Luft, Shelby plans to continue to focus on small production runs of cars like the GT350, GTS and GT500 Super Snake and leave the large scale operations up to Ford. “We could never produce the volume that they produce,” he told us. “We’ve sized our business to build 500-600 cars per year. That’s our sweet spot. To ever do another production run like the GT was where it was 6,000 or 7,000 cars, it’s not in our game plan.”

Eleanor Mustang From “Gone In 60 Seconds” For Sale

Mustangs have always been popular with Hollywood, and there may not be any other car in the world that has made as many big screen appearances as the Mustang. But some movies merely feature a Mustang; other movies put the American pony car front in center in the action, like “Gone in 60 Seconds,” both the original, and the remake.
To that end, one of the original 1967 Eleanor Mustangs from the “Gone in 60 Seconds” remake will be heading to auction this weekend at the Autosport International Show, in Belgium. The car is being sold by by Coys auction house.
We’re sure the arguments section will soon devolve into an argument over whether or not the remake was better than the original. Whatever your opinion, one cannot argue with the hotness of a blond Angelina Jolie stealing fast cars, nor the beauty of the “Eleanor” ‘67 Mustang. Since that movie debuted, Eleanor body kits have been all the rage among the well-to-do, and who can blame them? It’s a beautiful car, with a beautiful name. And it is now up for auction.
There are a total of ten “Eleanor” Mustangs from the remake going up for auction, though this was one of just three designated as “hero” cars. This particular Eleanor was used for shots with actors, interior shots, action scenes, and so on. Originally powered by a 289, it now features a 331 Ford crate engine. Pre-auction estimates place the gavel-slamming price at between $115, and $155,000, which is probably only a little more than you could expect to pay if you went out and built one yourself.
The question is…would you want it?

How About A Brand New OLD Mustang

While we here at Anderson Ford are big fans of the current Ford Mustang, we also know that there's something to be said about the iconic styling of its renditions of yesteryear. After all, the Mustang is a staple of automotive performance that drivers in the greater Clinton area and beyond just can't seem to get enough of. And that said, Ford has taken a big step in ensuring that those who opt to restore a classic Mustang to its former glory can do so safely and easily.
More specifically, Ford recently invested in the development of new body shells that feature the exact fit, finish, and style of the original vehicle just off the assembly line. The Body shells are being manufactured to match the 1965, '67 and '69 models, and the American automaker is so confident in their quality that they've been officially licensed too.
Dynacorn, the company behind these exciting new body components turned to the original convertible and fastback designs for reference when manufacturing them. However, it's worth noting that the company also worked to make the overall build much stronger than their inspiration. In fact, the body panels for the kit are even constructed from automotive-grade 'virgin' steel that's thicker than the original material used, welded with modern techniques that improve rigidity, and tested thoroughly to ensure maximum safety.

Hajek Sets Three Production Truck Land Speed Records At Bonneville

Those in drag racing and land speed circles are likely to know the name Brent Hajek, but for those who don’t, the farmer/oilfield service operator from Oklahoma seemingly has more full-size toys than most young boys have Hot Wheels cars, and even operates a motorsports museum in his hometown of Ames, Okla. When he’s not busy making a name for himself as one of the nation’s top ranchers and spokespersons for corn-based ethanol fuels, he’s competing in the NHRA Super Stock division with his ’08 Cobra Jet Mustang or blazing across the salts of Bonneville in search of land speed record glory.

And glory he attained last week during Bonneville’s annual Speed Week, held August 13th to 19th on the world famous Utah course and hosted by the Southern California Timing Association.
Hajek, behind the wheel of modified 2011 Ford Super Duty, set three production truck land speed records during Speed Week, including the U/BD world record with a speed of 182.143 MPH in the truck that’s certainly not short on size or weight. On Speed Weeks’ third day, Hajek broke the existing three-mile record with a speed of 167.539 and following the customary impound, completed a successful backup run of 171.123 the following morning. The truck was then filled with B-20 Bio-Diesel and returned to the course, where it clocked the 182 MPH record-setting lap down the salt.
